British Black Music Month 2008

British Black Music Month (BBMM) takes place throughout June. It's an initiative started by BritishBlackMusic.com/Black Music Congress in 2006 as a way of promoting British black music and highlighting issues, through discussions, album anatomies, performances, club nights, etc

Whilst BBMM is our initiative, we're open to working with other organisations in a number of ways in delivering events that satisfy our BBMM remit. BBM/BMC is committed to the following:

BMC’s programmes include an album anatomy, where the artists and key personnel that worked on the success of the album will give first hand account;

Summit on key issues at City Hall;

Akoben Awards for positive black music, which highlights conscious artists and songs that empower the community;

Wayne McDonald's British Black Music Special Funkbase progranmme on Galaxy Radio (June 9) Mondays 2255 - 0055 (UK BST) on the Galaxy Radio and Digital Network. You can listen online via www.galaxyfm.co.uk, and DAB Digital Radio and on the digital services of BSkyB, NTL and Telewest across the UK.

CDR British Black Music Special Club night (June 12)

Open Day/Networking @ Brent Black Music History Photographic Exhibition @ Brent Museum includes Visions Of Africa Communities posters display (June 26, 11am-8pm)

The Great British Black Music Singalong concert (June 27, 7-10.30pm), where crossover hits and underground faves from the British song-book will be performed live, with a couple of guest artists performing their well-known songs.
