Question
|
Compiled by Rita Ray and Max Reinhardt, this is a veritable collection of vintage highlife. By the way, this is another opportunity to thank Rita for participating in the BBMM2011 event 'Where Is Africa In Words, Music and Politics?', which took place at the Voice Of Africa Radio HQ.
Whilst many of the tracks may not be immediately known to non-aficionados, barring Prince Nico's mega hit 'Sweet Mother', this double-CD contains tracks by many well-known highlife acts, such as King Of Highlife ET Mensah, Uhuru Band, Ramblers Band, Sir Victor Uwaifo, , Bobby Benson, Guy Warren, Smart Nkansah & His Sweet Talks, Sir Victor Olsiya, etc!
This is a very useful documentation of West African highlife history (the liner notes has a brilliant historical essay, play additional background to each track).
To be in with a chance of grabbing a copy, correctly answer this question: which country was ET Mensah from - Nigeria or Ghana?
